Becky Regan

Lyrical, Contemporary, Jazz

Figure_No Back.png

Becky danced for 15 years at the Studio of Dance and Performing Arts in Whitby. Where she continues to share her passion as a dance educator.

She has trained in RAD (Royal Academy of Dance) and the  ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing).

Becky especially enjoys the high energy and intensity of jazz, and the emotion dancers can convey through lyrical dance.

She has a wonderful memory of an exceptional dance teacher who took extra time to help her develop skills in some of her weaker areas (such as flexibility), even recommending specific exercises to do every day at home. She was inspired by that level of interest and dedication.

Becky participated in competitions in New York City, Florida and Las Vegas Dancing on TSN. She also toured with the Footloose Extreme Team and received a Las Vegas ballet scholarship through Dance Educators of America.

Becky has been teaching for over 16 years.

She attended college for broadcast journalism, but when finished, she felt like something was missing. Once she returned home, she started teaching dance part time and realized it was what she wanted to do professionally.

Her favourite part of teaching dance is seeing the progress of her students, watching them grow and evolve. She also loves being creative and choreographing.

She is very appreciative and has strong memories of all the cards, notes, and messages from students and families she has received over the years. She is honoured that she has been able to play a part in their lives.

Becky expects her dancers to give 100% and do their very best. Perfect practice makes perfect. She makes this expectation and others clear to her dancers at the beginning of the year. She believes everyone wins when they are all focused and having fun.

Her most challenging age group to teach is 5-7 years; her favourite group is 12-18.

Her biggest challenge as a teacher is organizing her ideas and finding ways to explain to them so everyone can understand.
